Charleen Tefry has fought breast cancer twice. First, it was Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Second, it was breast cancer. When she learned she had breast cancer, she went to Providence Medford Medical Center to receive a bilateral mastectomy with reconstructive surgery.
It was then and there that she met Kate Newgard, a nurse navigator at Providence Leila J. Eisenstein Breast Center. “Kate is the angel of the breast cancer patients,” said Charleen.
Charleen was new to Medford and did not know many people. She was extremely grateful to the programs the breast center offered and the support and guidance she received through them. “To have the support of others is everything,” said Charleen.
While she is cancer free today, she knows she has a home at Providence with love and support. “There is just something about Providence. I’m so thankful for my caregivers and all the support services that helped me get through a very difficult time.”
